BSI's 1st Vertical: Monitoring The Entertainment Industry

There are market research firms in every industry where products are sold. In the $14 billion dollar Music Industry, the leading firm collects data from retail establishments via Point-Of-Sale (POS) servers. Currently, two days after collecting a week of sales data, the information is sold to music label marketing executives. Customers use this to gauge the effectiveness of marketing actions and tours, refine marketing and advertising budgets, and look for emergent market trends in an effort to improve revenues for music releases.

Bean-Stream has developed proprietary, patent-pending technology and processes that enable real-time acquisition and aggregated enhancement of data from retail stores, “always-on” retail POS networks and websites.  There are already customers for the same type of information - information that has already aged significantly. BSI’s initial product – StreetPulse® – is a web-based subscription service of mined aggregated sales data acquired from retail stores’ point of sales system logs. Given that the typical promotion and marketing for a new music release is 8-12 weeks, Bean-Stream’s technological breakthrough can be used by clients to create millions of incremental sales and reduce millions in unsold inventory costs. The StreetPulse program  has an easy interface, printable reports, and is poised for rapid market adoption in 2008.

StreetPulse has already expanded its industry-wide sales monitoring into the Home Video/DVD market and plans to enter the Computer/Video Game retail category in early 2009.
